New Delhi, India: LPG gas is the most popular cooking gas in India. This cooking gas is a mixture of n-butane and isobutane, which not only make tasty food in your mother’s kitchen, however it also a live bomb available in most of Indians’ home. So, for the security measures, it is mandatory for every LPG cylinder holders to make a habit to check LPG gas cylinder expiry date before taking the cylinder delivery.

Did you know that every LPG cylinder has a physical life (expiry date), which reveals how safe it is? Yeah! it is true. You can check the expiry date of an LPG cylinder in India.

The LPG cylinders you use at your home has the expiry date printed on it in an alphanumerical code.

Currently, nearly 80% of India households now use LPG gas to serve love from their kitchens. The LPG gas cylinder price is increasing very high, day-by-day and there may be a possibility of misuse the cylinders to meet the rising demand.

Every LPG cylinder has a statuary due date for statutory testing in which the cylinder goes under a quality test for its defects, metal quality, and gas leakage.

Alternatively, users can also contact their gas agency or gas distributor to check the LPG gas cylinder expiry date.

Now, whenever a Gas Cylinder delivers at your home, don’t pay the bill instantly to the delivery man without checking the expiry date, gas cylinder weight and total charged amount.

Further, we are going to show you how to check your LPG gas cylinders expiry date in India.

You can find the expiry date from one of the three iron plates at top of the cylinder, looks like D-13 or D.13.

As per deputy manager, Mr. S K Jain (Indian Oil Corporation Limited -IOCL) {Times of India}, alphabet, and the number indicates the month and year of LPG gas cylinder expiry date.

See the above image printed with D-13 code. It indicates the expiry date to the above LPG cylinder (October 2013).

Reveal the code to check the expiry date of the LPG gas cylinders.

Here, the trick starts to check gas cylinders expiry. There are 4 alphabets available that indicates months – A, B, C, and D. It shows the quarter series of months of a year.

Means “A” stands for the first three months – “January, February, and March” (first quarter).

Similarly, “B” stands for “April, May, and June” (second quarter). “C” stands for “July, August, and September” (third quarter). Final, “D” stands for “October, November, December” (fourth quarter).

And, any number which is available after the alphabet like D-13, which means “13” refers for 2013.

Moreover, if your cylinder has “D-19”, it means the last expiry date of your gas cylinder is October 2019.

Anyone of your family member can easily decode this code to find expiry date of an LPG cylinder.

Never consider using an expired gas cylinder even when there is nothing to cook at your home. Because it may cause a hazardous accident from gas cylinder leaking and bursting problems.
