One of our readers asked us through email about how many Google AdSense ad units are allowed on one web page. With the reference to that topic, I am writing this post.
If we talk about the new bloggers or AdSense publishers, they place too many AdSense ad units on their blog pages hoping to earn more money online. However, placing many ads on a single web page neither help to generate revenue quickly nor it’s acceptable by the ad networks.
So it’s always better to add ads to website up to limited numbers as per the respective ad network advertising placement policies and terms.
Whenever we think about the best contextual high paying ad network, the Google AdSense ad network proactively hit on our mind.
As per Wikipedia – In Q1 2014, Google earned USD $3.4 billion or 22% of total revenue through Google AdSense.
Because AdSense is the world’s best pay per click advertising program run by Google that allows publishers to serve automatic text, image, video or interactive media advertisements that target the site content and audience.
Every new blogger makes a website and joins Google AdSense ad program with a hope that they would earn decent money online, but it’s not as easy as seems. It takes a lot of hard work, time and patience to make a successful money making website.
I’m not demotivating you, however, this is the fact. Good content is the king loved by both Google panda algorithm (ranking signals) and the real audience and it is the only way towards success in blogging.
A blog with too many ads and low-quality contents can penalize by Google Panda update. So never consider placing more and more ads on a web page thinking that more ad units are the higher chances of getting clicks. If you really want to make your website a successful blog, only focus on good quality content as well as user-friendly, responsive blog website templates.
Well, Google AdSense team is very strict about the AdSense program policies and TOS. If anyone found violating their terms, they disable publisher account. Once AdSense accounts deactivated, it’s very hard to reinstate Google AdSense account again.
So it’s important to follow AdSense guidelines. Google has some Ad placement policies where it limits the maximum number of ad units per page.
What is the Maximum Number of AdSense Ad Units I Can Place on a Web Page?
According to the AdSense program policies, a Google AdSense publisher can place up to:
- A maximum number of 3 AdSense ad for content units.
- A maximum number of 3 AdSense ad link units.
- Maximum of 2 custom search boxes on one web page.
You can add maximum 8 AdSense ad units per web page including 3 contents, 3 text links and 2 custom search boxes. Let’s have a look at details.

Never cross the maximum limits of AdSense ad placement policy. This also includes a maximum of single 300×600 ad unit on a web page.
Google AdSense Ad Link Units
AdSense link units really perform very well when wisely implement in the blog theme and above the fold. According to my personal experience, link units Ad works great when place under the theme’s header, near-by the navigation menu.
Following is the list of various sizes for AdSense link units.
- 728×15 (Horizontal Large)
- 468×15 (Horizontal Medium)
- 200×90 (Vertical X-Large)
- 180×90 (Vertical Large)
- 160×90 (Vertical Medium)
- 120×90 (Vertical Small)
You can place up to 3 link units on one webpage. Have a look at example link units.
Google AdSense Ad for Search Box
AdSense ad for search lets you place the advertisement in a custom search box – custom search engine box on your website. It helps your blog readers to find desired posts on your site.
Google custom search engine box is also another way to earn revenue from relevant ads on the search results page. The maximum number of 2 search boxes can be placed per page.
So this is how you can place up to 8 AdSense ads on one page. Also, keep in mind that placing all 8 ad units on your site will not increase your revenue. Less AdSense ad units perform better than more ad units.
Don’t place too many ads above the fold or else you will be penalized by Panda Algo update.
AdSense official blog also defined about maximum ad units placement on one page.
How Some Websites Display More AdSense Ad Units Than the Maximum?
You might have seen many websites displaying more than 3 ad units per page. This is because of, they have a premium Adsense account. Google allows premium AdSense publishers to place more ad units.
How to become premium AdSense publisher?

Why do I need to disable Ad Blocker?
This post contains images that are related to advertisements, hence adblocker may automatically hide all images from the posts. Moreover, disable Adblocker for the Kitty at least. Over 40% of our visitors have Adblock enabled, this is detrimental to us as we need to pay ever increasing server running costs to keep this website alive.
Following are the steps to disable ad blockers from major browsers.
Find your browser’s “Extension” or “Add-On” section. AdBlock is not the part of the normal browser software – it’s an extension. Means they can be toggled on and off through a specific menu, easily found in every major browser:
