While entering a password on any login web page, it masks as an asterisk password (hidden characters under stars) so that no one can view that secret code.
Due to security reasons the password always shows in asterisk characters instead of an original password. There is a feature in every web browser to save login details for future auto-logins.
Next time, whenever a user opens that particular login page to log in, the browser automatically fills up the login credentials.
Most of the home users save login details on their browser because of they login so often.
Storing passwords or remember login details in the browser is little handy but it becomes risky sometimes.
There are many freeware software available online to show saved password quickly,
But it could be dangerous to use an unknown application.
So only use a well-trusted app or use this trick to view asterisk password easily and safely.
To view asterisk passwords (****) in any internet browser, follow the below steps.
- Open that web page where the password is available as an asterisk in the browser (ex- https://mail.yahoo.com).
- The browser will automatically fill up the login input fields. Hit F12 button on your keyboard to open web developer tools, go to Console tab.
- As soon as you hit enter, a popup window will appear showing the original saved password that was earlier an asterisk character.
You can also use inspect element tool to unhide the saved password in the different browsers, check our earlier post – Use Inspect Element As a Password Cracker Tool.
